This is a very good point from our very own Senator Santiago. As I was reading the news on Yahoo! Insider, I saw this article wherein Santiago warns the President of his ‘desires’, specially with the new lady in his life, Grace Lee.
“According to the Dalai Lama, desire is the source of all misery and unhappiness in life. So if he is going to look for a mate, he might desire her, then he would become unhappy. I would have to consultthe Dalai Lama,"
“I hope that the spirits of his parents, who did well for our country, will continue to guide him and that he will always be conscious of their high expectations – perhaps too high expectations – because it’s so difficult to be a president,”
These are two points that I want to share to you all. I find it very cool and inspiring at the same time. If we could remember, Santiago used to be the batuhan ng asar at our country, for she does the most unimaginable things, giving her the image of a freaky freak freak, if you know what im saying. But amongst it all, she did well, she continued to serve her country, and continued to fight for her principles, which I admire by the way.
With all the controversy and news about Santiago, this line really shocked me. Well not really, i just exagerrated, but shocked in a way that i felt that she really changed. I think she just became cooler than I really expected. She has this humor that twists everybody and its good. Anyway, the first line that he gave the President is DESIRE is the source of all misery and unhappiness in life.
NOw, when we speak of Desire, we speak of something very powerful, like a very powerful emotion and passionate feelings for a certain person. In the dictionary, it speaks of want or longing for a person. Now I think, what senator told the President is really true, because when we people want something so badly that it comes to a point of desire, we do everything we can to get it. We use people to achieve that and as bad as it sounds, we disregard the values of humanity to serve our selfish purposes. I, for one, became a victim of desire, an I could say that the effect of it into my life is really not good. Now when we let desire control our minds and our heart, we are doomed.
Next is the line where Santiago placed the President as a child growing up. This is a very good line for the President because, I think that this will motivate Him to do the right things, or right decisions regarding his "love” life. Our parents is the source of our whole system, i mean the way we act, we talk we speak and we decide. So speaking of guidance for a child is a very noble talk for me, in our case senator, because she just not empowered and reminded the President, but also the people of the Philippines, and I, that because of the fast paced world of ours tends to forget those whom we really need to give our hearts to – God and our parents.
Im not really that interested n the love life of our President, not the life of Senator Santiago, but the lines that she gave really reminded me of how DESIRE should be controlled and not be our master. Becasue at the end of the day, when we give in to desire, we will be unhappy and be miserable for the rest of our lives…
God bless!
