the Drifter
by: Psalmnoel F. Figueroa
I was a lonely drifter, sailed for the seas
only to find out my sail wasnt ready
tried to fix it with all my might
but failed to do so. No one helped, no one on my sight.
After I stumbled I stood up and saw
A man just staring at me get up from the ocean floor
After a minute I was taken aback
it wasnt a man, but a spirit in fact
He helped me get up, pointed at my boat
Saw the broken pieces rise up, fixing it, making it afloat
Confused at first but understood then
He wanted me back on the journey that I have been
Didnt quite get it at first what he wanted me to do
I just let my sail take me whereever the wind blew
But after some time, i realized my adventure wasnt through
I knew something should have happened to me too.
Like my boat i was revived, setting me on sail
It gave me what i want, took me where wind wanted it to go
But my boat in fact still withers above the water
giving me the risk to falter once more over.
I am like my boat, revived and given freedom
didnt want to be controlled, just gave myself to the wind
I should have stopped and reassessed my journey
where i have been to, and where am i now really
I stood up and took the sail in my hands
Took control of it, and I went back
To the places I went before but never have been
I have to do something, something to complete my journey
there i met this wonderful group
told stories about a man that fixes sailors’ sloop
Shared experinces how he changed their lives
and how he made people alive
I stayed with the group for a year or so
shared stories to other, made the Man known
I continued this thing at different Pubs
even with no one listening, I still wouldnt budge
One day I decided to leave that place,
Took my boat and opened my sail with grace
after some time of drifting through the seas
the Man i saw before, stood right in front of me
knowing my heart, he spoke to me
“Your heart knows where you want to go”
Hearing those words I instantly knew
the missing part in my life before I now do..
I wanted to share my stories of Him
the one who lifted me up, one who fixed my ferry
I wanted to make Him known to the world
and let everyone’s heart be connected to Him
The unending journey I had before
Now is changed with a purpose
I want to share His stories and mine
And be a fisher of men from different times
The boat I had before was not going anywhere
now I do know my destination
I was once a lonely drifter before
but now I am Psalm, the winner of sailors.
