When you dont set a standard in your life, you will just be tolerable to different people’s mistakes and in the end, making you unjust and senseless. This is a line that I wont forget our own DJ Mo told one morning at the ‘The Good Times’- or something along those lines, i really cant remember. I dont listen to Mo much but when I do, I get so freakin amazed of how this guy actually makes sense.
Im not a fan of Mo, and im not endorsing the Magic 89.9’s show at the morning ‘The Good Times’ in any way. I just want to focus on the line that he said – we should set our standards and stand by them.
People, specially Filipinos, are really tolerate when it comes to negative things that other people bring along. Sometimes we get bumped, shoved and kicked at the MRT station, pero ok lng. Bka naman aksidente lang. Tapos nakatitig na sau sa mata habang dahan dahan ka dyn tinatapakan. Sabi mo ok lng, bka banlag lang. Point is, we are really tolerate sa mga bagay dito sa mundo. Now, ganito tayo kapag wala tayong standard na pinanghahawakan. Standard is like our principle in life. Di pwede mabali o mabaluktot.
So for instance, your friend has this issue with guys or girls, na grabe makapag ipon at maglaro. If you are a standardized human being, you would probably advice him/her the right things specifically the things you believe is right.
Another example is your barkada has bisyo and everything. If we have a standard, we would never be a drunkard or even be a smoker or addict just to mingle with them. If you have a right principle in life, and if you stand by it, you would make decisions easily without any hesitation. So what do you do? Either you become a standard for them, or just lay low to make them realize something is not right with them.
Setting up YOUR standard doenst necessarily mean easy and happy living. Dito kayo matetest kasi MAS DADAMI ung mga taong mgagalit sainyo, mga taong MAIINIS ant mga taong MAIIRITA sainyo, kasi masyado kayong weird para sa mundong to na hindi sumusunod sa agos. Sabi nga sakin ng friend ko, at the end of the day, fulfilled ka, kasi you did the RIGHT thing. And just that thought, i think will really boost you up and keep you on your toes in an everyday struggle called life.
Jeremiah 5:12 (NIV)
Lift up a banner against the walls of Babylon! Reinforce the guard, station the watchmen, prepare an ambush! The LORD will carry out his purpose, his decree against the people of Babylon.
Stand Up, Reinforce, Focus, and be Aggresive.
Stand Up – Lift up a banner against the walls of Babylon! Have the will to fight and to fight for things that you know is right.
Reinforce – if you feel like you need help, then read the Bible. You’ll find interesting things there.
Focus – Station the watchmen. Anticipate and Plan ahead of time. Keep your head straight and never waver.
Be Aggresive – Prepare an ambush. Be motivated enough to plan your steps in reaching a certain goal. By these, you will practice guidelines and rules that will help you develop your Standardization.
By these things you will be able to develop your standards. ^^,.
God Bless!
